NOTES: Starting from Thompson Pass near Valdez, the Alaska Snowboard Guides provide heli-accessed guided backcountry snowboarding to a maximum altitude of 8,500 feet with a max vertical drop of 5,000 feet. A typical day is about 25,000 feet of vertical. Their goal is to get eight runs in on good weather days.
To reach Alaska Snowboard Guides in Valdez, start by flying into Anchorage. From Anchorage, either rent a car to drive to Valdez, or take a flight on Era Aviation or Grant Aviation. Once in Valdez, a car in highly recommended to get to Alaska Snowboard Guides at Thompson Pass for the daily heli flights.
