NOTES: Southwest of Albany near Tannersville, the Hunter Mountain Ski Area has 240 boardable acres with a 1,600 feet vertical drop, that is popular for snowboarding. They have 100% snow-making capability and produce about 100 inches of snow a year! Just get there early before the man-made stuff sloughs off revealing the base ice.
On a Pow-Day, take the SnowLite lift for laps on Hellgate or Racers Edge.
Special note: Hunter Mountain backs up to a state forest with legal backcountry riding.
For nightlife, check out Tequillas on SR23A or Slopes in Tannersville.
Directions: Albany - Est. Time: 1 Hour 10 Minutes NY Thruway south to Exit 21 (Catskill), turn left after exit and go to Rt. 9W (about 2 miles); take Rt. 9W south to Rt. 23A; take Rt. 23A west to Hunter Mountain.
